The Trans-Atlantic Inter-Society Consensus on the Management of Peripheral Arterial Disease (TASC) was initially published in 2000, as a result of the collaboration between 14 medical and surgical vascular, cardiovascular, vascular radiology, and cardiology societies in Europe and North America.
The TASC II guidelines are an update of the original guidelines, with the goal of targeting the original readership of vascular specialists, but also physicians in primary health care.
In addition, the TASC II guidelines have a broader international representation, including Europe, North America, Asia, Africa and Australia, and focus on key aspects of diagnosis and management, with the aim of updating the information based on new publications and the newer guidelines.
